I think it'd be too much purple
what other colors or patterns might look good in her big girl room?

I say nay. I like yellow, pink or green with purple myself. My girlfriend just did her daughter's room with a butterfly theme in those colors. Not sure where she got them, but she got white sheers with butterfly applicays (sp?) on them.

My bedroom is lilac, similar to the one you posted and the curtains are cream. I think they are pretty!

Aly NEEDS darkness to sleep well and the 2 bedrooms get bright yet indirect sunlight in the afternoon/evenings.
I'm thinking I have to go with something that is not sheer and buy the blackout liners from Walmart.com

i bought curtains just like that once at marburn.
what if you bought blackout shades? then you could get sheers and just pull the shades down when she's sleeping.

My DD has very light purple walls and has darker curtains...to me it definately is not an overkill (I love purple). I'll try and post a picture - .
