Push Present
I've never done these.
With #1 I declined when DH brought it up because I felt that our baby girl (who came after many losses and hardship) was gift enough! This time around (after even more hardship with trying for #2) I feel the same way. Nothing against them, I think they're a sweet idea, but I was just never interested. My husband, however, keeps on talking about how he wants to get me something, regardless. I keep telling him that there's nothing I want or need so forget about it, but he says he'll just get me something of his own picking then. lol. I guess I should suggest SOMETHING.
Anybody who's gotten or is getting a push present, what is it you're hoping for? The only thing I really would actually like is a mommy birthstone necklace. But he just got me a beautiful mommy locket for my birthday last week so that kinda seems like the same gift all over again. I'm just curious what others have gotten in the past or are getting with this pregnancy that means something special to you.

Re: Push Present
The idea of getting me a present would never even occur to my DH. Even though, let's be real here, I'm doing all the hard labor- pun intended.
That being said, I think for number 2, a necklace or bracelet with each baby's birthstones would be a really sweet gift! They have some beautiful designs.

Re: Push Present
DH always gets me a pushing present. It's usually some type of jewelry since he wants it to be sentimental. #1 was diamond earrings, #2 was a necklace, #3 was a tennis bracelet. #4 I would like a mommy necklace or this mommy ring I've been seeing online. I've never come out and asked for one, so I'll wait and see, and while I'm expecting it since he always has before I wont mind if he doesn't.

Re: Push Present
I didn't ask or expect a push present. I too had gone through many years of hardship and losses before having my ds in my arms. The week of my due date though, my dh surprised me with a gold necklace and said if not for me and my willingness to keep pushing forward after everything we had gone through on that journey, we would not be having our ds that week.
Of course it's not necessary and many will argue the baby is a gift, but let's get real here.. Pregnancy is tough! I don't think there's anything wrong with something sentimental to mark such a huge milestone in your family's lives or even a frivolous reward for surviving the pregnancy.

Re: Push Present
It wasn't a push present, but for my birthday, DH got me a locket inscribed with a message from him and a pic of each of our children. I was still pg at the time, so it was a pic of the sono of our DD, which I changed out after she was born. I never thought I'd be into a locket (just not my style), but I LOVE it and wear the necklace every day to have my children close to my heart.

I would like a necklace with the baby's birthstone, but DH thinks push presents are stupid so I probably wont get one.

That's my husband's thoughts as well. We went through many difficult years trying for these two. Especially the one I'm pregnant with now. It felt like a piece of me died every single day trying for this little guy. I wanted to give up, but knew that I couldn't. He feels like after all of that, my perseverance is the only reason we have any kids at all and he knows pregnancy is tough. He remembers how intense and difficult my labor & delivery was with #1. Worth it, of course, but tough nonetheless. He just wants to give me something to commemorate that. I always said that my healthy baby is enough. But I think it's so sweet for him to want to do this.
I think I'll just leave it to him to decide what he wants to do. But I love all these ideas.

I said that! LMAO. When he asked, I told him 5 gallons of Vodka. But in reality, I've probably got another year at least of sobriety since I plan to breastfeed.
I do have one friend though who's husband actually did get her a cocktail that she inhaled right there at the hospital after giving birth. I didn't think you could have alcohol there, but I guess maybe they hid it other than the pic on FB. lol.

Re: Push Present
My DD's were born a few days before Mother's day and my birthday so my "push" present was also a mother's day present. DH got me asscher cut diamond earrings and a pretty rose gold necklace with three hearts for "his three girls". It was so sweet and I was completely surprised! I never mentioned anything to him about a push present but I'm pretty sure my sister in law told him about it. LOL

Oh you can most definitely drink while breastfeeding. I mean, not get wasted, but alcohol processes out of your milk just like the rest of your body - nurse, drink - good to go!
Back on topic, Id never even heard of a push present before reading it on this site. Didn't ask for one, didn't even give getting a gift a thought.
I did get the typical "mom" type necklace with my girls' birthstones.

Re: Push Present
With #1, DD gave me an initial necklace which also had DDs birthstone. DD and DH have the same initial so I love wearing something that represents both of them.
For #2, I just want to add a charm with DS's initial. We are naming him after my mom who passed so I know it will be very sentimental.
