putting infant seat in shopping cart?
do you do this? is it really safe? i've always been hesitant because i feel like the carseat doesn't fit in there well.

I did not put it on top, but in the basket. Not good if you want to buy a bunch of stuff, but a lot safer.

I also put mine in the basket of the cart. From what I have read, it is not recommended to put them on the top part, and some seats (like the Chicco Keyfit) don't fit up there anyway.

i always put it inside the cart part. I had the chicco & it dosnt connect onto the seat part anyway, I once heard a story that a lady put the carrier ontop and the cart fell over I dont know if its a true story or not but it was enough for me not to do it

me too, I always put the carrier in the cart part, never on the baby seat. Too dangerous to me. I also used peapod a lot back then.

At most of the grocery stores around here, it doesn't even pretend to fit on top (it fits well at Target, though -- even latches on) so I put her in the basket... which is such a pain because there really is ZERO room to shop. I basically use the top part for my groceries! It really does force me only to buy essentials!! (And to go out grocery shopping at least 2x a week...)

I have the Chicco Keyfit and I always put the seat on top. I realize this probably isn't the 100% safest option, but I have never had a problem. It doesn't "click" or "latch" in but I have only been to one store where it didn't sit very easily and securely in the seat part. And whenever I am making a turn with the cart, or going over a bump, I hold the bottom of the seat while I'm pushing the cart for a little added security. The seat has never so much as shifted though, honestly!

DD is only 6 weeks old, but I have only put her in the basket part. It doesn't seem safe to me for her to be wobbling on top 
I have the Chicco Keyfit.
