Putting vitamins in bottle???
Anyone else do this? It is fine to do?
I keep forgetting to ask the dr when I am there.
DS won't take them anymore so I have to sneak them to him with his milk.
I assume it is fine to do, but wanted to make sure!

Should be fine. I started giving my kids the gummy ones and they now look forward to taking their vitamins!

I started giving my son the gummy ones around a year old and my daughter around 9 months. The pediatrician said it was perfectly fine but she did give me a script for another vitamin that isn't in the flintstone gummies (was it folic acid maybe? I think it is! lol)
to be honest, I take them sometimes too and I have to stop myself from taking more than one! lol

Re: Putting vitamins in bottle???
I think you are ok with putting it in the bottle. My ped suggested not to....but I figure its better that way than not getting any at all.

Are you referring to the liquid vitamins with flouride? If so, I wouldn't put them in the bottle especially if it's milk. I was told that the vitamins have a curdling effect on the milk and could make dd sick. I was told to wait about an hour before or after any dairy.

I have been doing this since he was 13 months and no problems. And my ped I could do it.
I would ask your ped. Andrew won't take it any other way so I really don't have a choice.

I have also been putting her flouride vitamins in her formula for months!! My ped said it was ok and she never got sick.

Re: Putting vitamins in bottle???
I know that a lot of peds say its okay to put in the bottle, but as someone pointed out a while ago, you arent supposed to give it with dairy as per the instructions.
I am not sure about the curdling effect, but I used to give it in the milk before I knew better and didn't have any problems.
I did speak to my friend who is a nutritionist and she told me that the reason you aren't supposed to give it with milk is that the vitamins contain iron and the dairy will block the absorption of the iron into the system.

Well if a child will take them no other way, then better something then nothing at all.
