Q about furniture shopping/Raymour & Flannigan

Hey all! Went to R&F today and basically put two sets on hold- bedroom and dining room.

Now that I'm home - I wonder - can you negotiate with these guys? Should I have? I haven't a clue and it's probably too late...but to be honest, I can't negotiate to save my life.

This is what we're getting-
Queen bed, dresser/mirror, 2 nightstands, armoire
Dining table, 4 side chairs, 2 arm chairs & a buffet

For about $5500....

Did I do okay? The good thing is, I'm on an 'open ticket' so it's not set in stone yet. I'm just basically holding them with the price I got today (both sets on sale). I can add/remove things all I want before delivery.

My next question is...should I get the Platinum Protection Plan? Is it worth it?

Here are the sets - funny thing is, both are from the same collection!

This pic does not do it justice- the wood is darker and it doesn't really look this 'country' in personChat Icon

I love your sets!!! Very niceChat Icon

We just got furniture as well and I didn't think to negotiate on the price either. My guess is that bigger chains won't, maybe smaller mom and pop type stores will be more flexible on price.

As for the price we got all that you got plus a sectional for our LR and ours was $9K and that's in NC so I think you are getting a good deal. We paid for the protection I think it was $300-400 for coverage on all of the furniture for 3 years. IMO relative to the price it's worth it. They told us basically if ANYTHING happens they will fix or replace the furniture. Like if you nick your bedroom dresser with the vaccuum and they can't fix it they replace it. It seemed worth it to us.

Both sets are beautiful!

I definitely need to shop for a bedroom set soon!

As for R & F, we ordered our couches for our great room from them. WE did get the Platinum Protection Plan and I think it was worth it. we had a repair person come on two separate occasions to fix stiching on one couch and the recliner mechanism on the other and it was no cost to us.

Re: Q about furniture shopping/Raymour & Flannigan

We have bought all our house furniture from R&F. We didn't do much negotiating when we bought our bedroom set but when we bought the furniture for our family room we did alot of negotiating and got the price reduced by about 500 or 600 dollars from the original price he came to us with. I am not sure if what you are paying for what you are buying is a good price but it doesn't hurt to ask for a better price even if you reduce it a few hundred dollars more money in your pocket then there's.
Good luck both sets are beautiful.
