My HS now has the Jr prom at Lombardis on the Sound... some kids take limos, otheres are dropped off... the actual senior prom is in the HS gym and it is spectacular... the kids try and out do each other in how they arrive and the entire town comes out to watch...

We didn't have a junior prom - we had a junior "banquet". It was in a catering hall but our parents drove us to the school and then we were taken to the hall in a school bus.

My HS didn't do the Jr. Prom. In Junior High we had a "dance" and then Sophmore year we had the "ring dance." when we were given our class rings and everyone turned them and signed a paper that they turned your ring. Both of the dances were in the high school gym.
ETA: We did a junior banquet and that was at a hall, but I dont think we took limos. I think the school provided the transportation.
Did you go to Sachem? We did the same thing

When I was in school the Jr. Banquet and Senior Prom were both at catering halls. Everyone took limos.
The same holds true today except taht instead of having the Senior Prom at the Meadow Club it is at OHEKA CASTLE!!!

We weren't allowed to take a limo to our Jr. prom, we were made to take the coach bus(I went solo and had a great time!). For the senior prom, my dad drove my date and I I didn't even get a kiss goodnight.

I went to my own junior prom back in 1989, but it was held at the Milleridge Cottage. I have heard that since my year, the later years had it at the school. I couldn't even imagine since my school was so small!
I was a couple of years after you and mine was at antuns in hicksville. the cotillions were in the sha gym.

Me too, except it was the gym.
Other than the venue & the dresses being shorter, it was pretty much the same as the Sr. Prom. We even went into NYC afterward.

Our jr. prom was in a catering hall and we took limos. As far back as the mid-80's when my older sister went, it was in a hall and they took limos.

ours was in the gym, but we did take a limo and went out afterwards too...and then everyone came back to my house after the comedy show in the city-(we went to dangerfields and then a diner) and slept over ...in the am my mom and dad made a huge breakfast for everyone , we all got dressed and went to a movie.
It was so much fun and less stressful than senior prom

I only graduated HS in 2002 (I'm on the young side) so when I had my JP, which wasn't that long ago, it was still held in the Gym.
As far as I know- my district still does it that way too.

My junior prom was at the Marriot World Financial Center. It was amazing. It was so much better than the senior prom (at the marriot marquis).
Very few people did limos for the junior prom, and people didn't dress up as formally (I did though!).
Then again at the Regis Soph/Junior semi formal Ivanka trump showed up in a superstretch in a dress Cinderella would be jealous of

My school had the same thing (massapequa). I didnt go to the junior prom, but I remember something like this. It was at a catering hall.

We took a limo bus to ours but it was in the gym..
I can tell you though, it would not surprise me. My mom is a 5th grade teacher & every year they have a "moving up" dance for the5th graders. Last year, the girls had their hair & makeup done. They also took limos! That is a bit much to me

Mine was in a hall, but that is because we built a brand-new gym my sophomore year & they did not want our heels to ruin the floor
I think they have done all the Jr Proms in halls since then..... (this was in 1989  )

we didn't have junior prom techicaly - w had junior ring nite- where we got our rings blessed at a mass (went to catholic school) then went to a catering hall for a dance -
limos were banned at junior ring nite and faced suspension if you had one - very strictly enforced

My jr. prom was at the huntington town house.
BFs jr prom was in the gym.
Limos to both and NYC followed my prom. For BFs prom, the limo broke down, so we spent most of the night at the side of the road in the broken-down limo with a driver who refused to take us to the hamptons, even if the car had been working.
Now that I think about it, the limo was probably fine, but since I had had a wine cooler, I was probably too tipsy to notice that the driver may have just been mean.
