Not me, but I have a friend who had a very complicated, premature baby via c-section and she was told to wait 2-3 years.

No, I actually conceived less than a year after DS.
She did tell me however, they only recommend 3 sections maximum on each patient because of all the scar tissue I believe. Not sure though. No problem for me since my 2 kids are more than enough!

Thanks everyone. I can understand waiting 6 mos to 1 yr so the uterus can heal but I thought 2 yrs was a bit ridiculous unless the person in question had serious complications. DH and I want to start TTC #2 this summer after DS turns 1. If I waited until he was 2, I'd be over 35 and everything I read says chances of conceiving naturally goes down as your age goes up. Thanks for your input everyone. You made me feel much better.

I was told by my doctor risks for things like rupture etc go down considerable when you do the waiting period. I was told to wait at least 1-2 years - dr okayed 1 1/2 to TTC again. Are you considering VBAC? b.c. one of the criteria for doing it is how long between pregnancies - the longer the better.

Mine didnt say anything about a waiting period but I did ask how many c-sections I could have and he said there is no limit and that the most he has done on a woman was 7.

I had a c section with my first and was pregnant by the time he was three months old.
That sounds like DH's friend and wife. Their daughters are 11 months apart. The DR. wouldn't even consider a VBAC for her.

I know I told my dr I didn't want to VBAC - and he told me 1-2 years - to TTC again - just b.c it gives you optimal time to heal - Did you have any complications from the section - like the wound opening up etc? That could be why he suggested a longer time

Mine never said anything. I got preggers 8 months post c-section.
But I have heard that 18 months between deliveries is what is recommended for a VBAC. I will have 16 months and my ob/gyn said he would support me with a VBAC but I am on the fence about it.

My gyno said 18 months-2 years was best, but I really want to have a VBAC. The longer I have to heal, the better the chances according to my doc.
