question about antibiotics

im taking antibiotics right now. im not a fan of them at all, but since i was walking around with strep a few months ago and didnt know it for weeks, i realize that they are useful for some things Chat Icon

anyway, i had not been feeling well for a week. nothing major...but i definitely was not right for a full week, which is when i will go to the doc. all the rest and vitamins in the world were not curing me. i was just 'off.' my stomach, i was a little achy, my throat off, my head off, and really tired.

the doc said i was there last year almost to the day with the same symptoms! he prescribed the same medication.

i dont remember this from last time, but this time, (ive been taking it for 5 days, and still have 5 more) it is completely drying my skin out, specifically on my face. the skin under my eyes is sore and almost cracking. i started putting auqaphor on it which is seeming to help, but i want to stop the meds. i checked it out online, and these meds are actually used sometimes to clear up skin infections.

is it really bad to stop taking the meds? i feel completely better, but it says to finish all of the pills, but i dont like this reaction.

Re: question about antibiotics

FINISH! It's very important to finish all medication because even though you are feeling better, the infection may not be completely gone.

And I always say, with an infection you never want to take a chance. It can affect your heart or other organs. Live with the dry skin - it'll get better after you are done with your meds. Maybe call your Doctor to tell him your reaction and he can suggest something for the skin problem.

Re: question about antibiotics

Honestly, I would stop taking the meds. That's just my opinion. I don't know if it is right or wrong.

Re: question about antibiotics

I would finish all meds as prescribed and just let your doc know the next time you see him that this happened. He can maybe prescribe something different next time if needed.

they formulate that stuff purposely and precisely- please always finish your antibiotics!!! theres a reason why they give you a certain number!
