Question about baby clothes? (sizes)

Okay, I'm trying to figure out if I have enough clothes. Also, I wanted to buy an outfit I saw, but I wanted to get it for spring/ summer time. I'm really not sure what size the baby will be. I need help with sizes.

How much did you baby weight at birth?
How long did they wear Newborn and 0-3 month clothes?

At what month did they start wearing 3-6 month clothes?

My DD was 8lbs1oz at birth. She was born in April. She wore NB for at least a month. She wore 0-3 for about 3 months. She started 3-6 when she was about 4 months old. I was told she was going to be a big baby so I bough summer stuff in 3-6 months but alot of it was way too big on her and she never wore it.

My DS was born 7lbs, 8oz. Now at 4.5 months he is in 6-9 month clothing and weighing 18lbs He wore nb for 1 month and 3-6/6mos for 2.5-3mos.

DD#2 was 9lbs 3oz at birth and wore NB size for maybe a week. She was wearing 3-6 months by one month, but she is really big, she is off the charts for height & weight.

7 lbs 2 oz at birth & he wore newborn sizes for about 4 weeks. By his 6 week check he was 10lbs 4 oz and the 0-3 month fit him from about 4 weeks to 10 weeks & I started to move him into 3 month sizes. He gained weight QUICK though!

DD was born 6lbs 10oz and 20 inches..she has gained weight quickly though!!! she was in NB clothing until abt 4 weeks and now is in 0-3/3mos clothing. Last week at 8 weeks she was already 12 lbs!!!! She still has room in her 0-3/3 mos clothing but she's getting longer and i see that the length might become a problem soon...
Also, I've realized that different brands run differently, for instance I feel that carters 3 mos runs roomier than gerber's 0-3 or 3-6 mos sizes..this is just in the white onesies that I've noticed....

DS was born Xmas Eve
He was 7lbs 10 oz and wore newborn clothes until he was about 1 month

he is now wearing 0-3 months, he is 8 weeks today and will be 2 months next Wednesday -
The 0-3 are JUST fitting him, as he is now about 12 lbs
He will be wearing 3-6 in some things before he is actually 3 months

DS was 7 pounds (even though they said he would be WAY over 8 pounds) and born the beginning of july. he was in NB for a little over a month. he wore 0-3 until about 4 months, 3-6 until 7 months and i'm now slowly transitioning him to 6-9 at 7.5 months old. he's been pretty true to size.

personally i wouldn't buy too much. baby clothes are ALWAYS on sale and go on clearance within weeks or months when new stuff comes out. you never know how big your baby will be or how fast he will grow!

DS was 8 lbs 1 oz. at birth. He wore newborn clothes for at least 1 month even though they technically go up to 8 lbs. He's almost 10 weeks old and is still in the 0-3 month clothes. He was 13 lbs 1 oz. at his appointment on Monday. The 0-3 month clothes technically go up to 12 lbs, but DS has plenty of room in these clothes. He's only 22 inches, which could also be why the clothes fit fine.

You really can't predict this, I mean, you can try, but it really doesn't always work

My DS was born at 6lbs, 11oz at the end April, he wore NB until the end of July (he was 3+ months old) then he wore 0-3 until he as at least 6 months old.

Now he is almost 22 months old and is jsut starting to get into 18-24 months, some 12-18 month pants still fit him.

DS was born 7 lbs 7 ozs.

We never had newborn clothes. he was true to size from 0-3 and 3-6 months.

My DS was was 5lb when he was born and didnt start wareing 3-6 until he was almost 10 months old. He is now almost 18 months and jsut into 12 months. The best thing that I can tell you dont take any tags off of again and wash then when you need them.

Sizing is really hard to predict.

DD was born at 9lbs, 1oz (95th percentile). She was the big baby and everyone thought she'd stay that way. She spent only a week or 2 in newborn clothes. She wore 0-3 months until she was 4 months old and now at almost 9 months, she is just starting to wear her 6-9months clothes, and even those are big on her (but they are her cute, winter outfits).

She is now a tiny girl, in the 13th percentile.

You won't know how your child will grow. I would not take any tags off, save your receipts and certainly don't wash anything until you need it.

DD was 4lb15oz and DS was 5lb1 oz. THey were both 18.5 inches. They wore preemie clothes for about 1-2 weeks and are now still in NB - they are 7weeks. They are JUST starting to fit in some 0-3 clothes - the length is usually ok, but if there are pants they are too big. They were 6lbs1oz and 6lb4oz and 19 inches at their 1 month visit.

You can't predict this kind of thing - I wish you could!

DD was 9lbs 2oz at birth - born in the middle of January.

She wore newborn for a week or two..
she wore 0-3 for another 2-3 weeks.
she started wearing 3-6 months at one month old and stayed in that size for a month;
She wore 6-9 months for about 3 months (until the middle of summer)..
then she was in 12 months from August to the beginning of December...
now she's a year old and in 18 months clothes.

I'm trying to figure out when she'll be in 24 months but now her growth is really slowing down. It makes spring/summer shopping a real PITA.

My DD was born at 7lbs 8oz and 20" long. She lost a lot though and left the hospital at 6lbs 8oz.

She wore NB until 3 months old. She wore 0-3 month until she was 5/6 months old. At 6 months old she was 15lbs 6oz. She wore 3-6 months until she was 8 months old. She is now in 6-9 months at almost 9 months old and many of the outfits are too big and I roll the waist of pants over. Her 9 month appt is on Thursday but my guess is that she is 18/19 lbs.

DS was 8lbs, 9oz and wore newborn for about 3 weeks, now he's in 0-3 mos. It also depends on what brand. I've noticed Carter's runs big but ralph lauren runs small.

Lily was 7 pounds 1 ounce at birth. She's always been right on target for clothes...
Now, she's almost 21 months and she's in 18 month, or 18-24 month clothes. I'm guessing when she gets to 2, she'll be moving up to 24 month clothes.

But you really can't predict it. At all.

Okay, thanks everyone!! I'm thinking I need more newborn clothes. I only have about 3 things in newborn. Everyone tells me I don't need that size and I should just buy 0-3 months. Maybe I will go to Kohls and see if they have anything on sale. I hate to spend alot on Newborn.

DD was 7lbs 9oz and was in nb for maybe 2 weeks. She is now 12 weeks and Im packing away all her 0-3 as we speak! Some outfits run big though...so those are sticking around.
