Question about brushing a one year olds teeth?

DS has 12 teeth, and I started brushing his teeth everynight. I used to just wipe his teeth with a cloth, but now I'm using a finger tooth brush and baby tooth paste. I'm not sure if that baby tooth paste is okay to use. I'm not really sure what else to do. I'm also thinking I should start brushing his teeth in the morning as well as the night time.

What does everyone else do?

I brush every morning ans night with the finger brush/baby toothpaste. I will also brush after he eats something sugary. My DS is 14 months, and he just started to fight me on it (I've been brushing his teeth since his 1st tooth emerged at 4-5 months old).

Re: Question about brushing a one year olds teeth?

I started brusing with a finger brush when he was about 10 months old. I switched to a baby toothbrush once he had 6 teeth. (12 months)
No toothpaste yet. He's starting to give me a hard time about it the past 3 days. He used to be great. I show him the brush say "brush" and he would open up for me. Now he's been trying to swat the toothbrush out of my hands!!! What a stinker!!!!!! lol
I think once he gets a few more teeth I will brush in the morning and before bed.

We brush every morning and night with the baby size tooth brush (they sell them as age 1+) and use the orajel baby toothpaste that can be swallowed, he absolutely loves it too

I brush DDs teeth after breakfast and after dinner everyday. We started doing this when her teeth started coming in. We have been using the baby toothpaste and toothbrush.

I started brushing DD's teeth at 12 months. She's been pretty good about it. She has the Abby Cadabby toothbrush & paste. The toothpaste is berry flavored and she loves sucking on the bristlesChat Icon

DC are 15.5 months and we use a regular toothbrush with baby toothpaste. Its a bit of a challenge, but we manage.

Re: Question about brushing a one year olds teeth?

we brush DS (15mos) teeth every night (and morning if lucky). I use a toddler toothbrush & the toddler paste. So far so good. He likes it. If you say "say AHH, he say AHHH".

OMG, the finger brush we started at around 7-8mos, but he would bite down on me so hard I went right to the brushes.

Re: Question about brushing a one year olds teeth?

Since 11 months I have been using gauze to wipe her teeth after every meal per a pediatric dentist. I took her because I noticed some discoloration and it's now gone and her teeth are super white. The dentist said if I did that, it was not necessary to brush but I try at least anyway so she gets used to it.

At first I just put the gauze over my finger-- but now I need to put the finger brush on due to biting!!
