Question about Cervix issues
When will my doctor be able to start checking my cervix to make sure it is not shortening...I had the LEEP done two yrs ago and I am worried about this...will they be able to check at my ultrascreen next week? I will be 12.3 weeks..Thanks

Re: Question about Cervix issues
I don't remember if they checked my cervix via ultrasound at the ultrascreen (doc may have but he didn't give me a number or anything) but they did at the level II. If you are concerned I would just ask them to check since they'll be in the area anyway. GL!

Re: Question about Cervix issues
They checked me at 17 weeks but from what I've read on here I seem to be having very diligent care-I am at a high risk multiples clinic. Many other girls were checked at thri level 2 around 20 weeks. I would just ask your Dr if you are concerned

Re: Question about Cervix issues
i had the leep procedure done 2 years ago as well... my OB checks my cervix with a sono at EVERY visit,,to make sure it isnt shortening.. they have actually said i have the longest cervix they have EVER seen in a woman..ESPECIALLY one who had cervical cancer lolll GOD BLESS ME AND MY CERVIX :)
they did check at my ultrascreen, i would ask the dr to ask the tech if you have any concerns..

Re: Question about Cervix issues
Make sure your OB knows that you had it and when you go for the ultrascreen tell them too. I think they will check it if you tell them that.
I did not have a leep, just a biopsy and they only checked it at the level 2.

Re: Question about Cervix issues
I was checked at 19wks and they'll check me again at 25wks. My doctor knew from day 1 that I had the LEEP procedure in 2005 and didn't seem too concerned about getting my cervix length checked. I had to ask the sono tech at my 19wk appt to check it and he did (my doctor never told him). My doctor then set up another appoint for my cervix to get check at 25wks. Everything seems to be going well so far. I also have a very long cervix so she didn't seem concerned at all.
If you're ever questioning anything just speak up. It's better to be safe then sorry (I've learned that).

Re: Question about Cervix issues
I was checked at 18 wks, again at 22 and will be checked again every 2 weeks until the end of my preg. (or until they deem it no longer necessary).
