Question about ear infections
If your dc has an ear infection and is given antibiotics, does the doctor ask that you come back in a few weeks for a re-check.
My dd had an ear infection and she is now pulling at her ear agian, no other symptoms. I am taking her on friday morning for a re-check....can I expect to pay another co-payment ?
Thanks

Re: Question about ear infections
Matthew had fluid in his ear, but it was never infected, and she did have me come back.
I would think that I would want to know if the infection went away.

Re: Question about ear infections
Mine will have us call them in a few days to give a status after being sick. If they think their symptoms warrant a visit, yes they'll see her that day and yes another copay

Re: Question about ear infections
I probably wouldn't mind paying since I would want to make sure her infection was gone. Maybe you will get lucky and they won't charge you!

Re: Question about ear infections
Yeah we've gone for rechecks and always have to pay the copay again. IMO it's worth it though bc he's been on a few antib's that didn't work.

Re: Question about ear infections
to me, it would be worth another copay to make sure the infection is gone. i'm a speech therapist, and i also had tubes in my ears TWICE as a kid becasue of many ear infections. so i know first hand how much it can affect a child's speech and language development. i remember the day i got the tubes the first time i came home and was in the kitchen and said " whats that noise?" we finally figured out it was the refridgerator running... i had NEVER heard it before! it makes such a difference when you can hear well.. especially at such a young age. so i would go back if shes still pulling at her ears... just to make sure. good luck!!

Thanks, yes I am definitely bringing her back, she is acting totally fine but she is tugging at her ears so I want to make sure....they really get you with those co-pays though, I guess it is better than having no insurance so I should not complain
She is going Friday morning and then getting her 2nd round of the flu shot

Re: Question about ear infections
I always bring Hannah for a recheck and yes I do pay an additional copay.
Hannah has hearing loss due to severe ear infections and constant fluid. They haven't decided on whether or not to do the tubes yet.
It's better to be safe. You don't want to mess with hearing.

Re: Question about ear infections
I'd go for a recheck. Even if the infection is gone there could still be fluid in there which can effect their hearing.
