Question about EBF and pumping
I am EBF and DD is 8 weeks old.
I'd like to start pumping to build a supply so DH can feed her and so that my Mom can babysit from time to time so we can have a date night.
When should I use the pump? I don't want to take away from what DD needs.

pump after she eats. Or if she sleeps thru the night pump during the night for a few nights and store.

Re: Question about EBF and pumping
Pump for 15 minutes after certain feedings- keep pumping even if no milk comes out- it will kickstart your body into producing more milk for those feedings.
My DD would only nurse on one breast per feeding, so I always just pumped out the other.

Re: Question about EBF and pumping
Thanks! I'm going to try to pump after 2 - 3 feedings a day and see if that will kick start an increase so I can build a cache.

Re: Question about EBF and pumping
i went back to work after 3 weeks, so I started pumping early. I would let DS eat for as long as he wanted and thenI would pump. I never built up a huge supply, but I was alwasy able to get enough to feed DS while I worked part time. I was also able to store some frozen. You just have to get your body used to producing a little bit more.
