question about feeding your dc at night - before bed
SO they say you are not supposed to give your dc a bottle right before bed. This is what I always have done...it is bath, book, bottle and bed
How do you other mommies do this, how long after the last bottle does your dc go to bed?
TIA

I did before I heard "not to" and we tend to still do it. It's kind of her night routine. I try to get one last bottle in her as late as possible so she will sleep longer and not wake up hungry

Re: question about feeding your dc at night - before bed
Good question because I put Lucas to bed with a bottle every night. I don't even know how to do it otherwise.

Re: question about feeding your dc at night - before bed
See i have to ask my ped about this next visit. From what i remember from our childbirth class from the pediatric dentist, i think it's actually putting the baby to bed with a bottle so they can drink throughout the night, not giving them a bottle before bed.
I don't think it's feeding then putting them down cause the saliva will wash the sugar away.
I am get confused by this, def have to ask the ped!
I've always given a bottle about a 1/2 hour before bed.

Ok, that makes sense then. I never put her to bed with a bottle but I do feed her about 15-30 minutes before she goes to bed. Thanks girls

exactly the same for us, minus the book... but I should start to incorporate it into bedtime routine.

Re: question about feeding your dc at night - before bed
with my both my kids, we never gave them the bottle last. It was always bottle, bath, book, bed. As long as you have a routine that cues bedtime for them, I don't think it matters. However, I have a few friends who have kids approaching 2 yrs old and they can't get rid of the bedtime bottle because its the only way they know how to go to sleep. We never had this problem because thier last bottle was always about an hour before bed.

I may try to switch her routine to bottle, bath, book, bed. Lets see how that works

Re: question about feeding your dc at night - before bed
I definitely think it's giving them the bottle in the crib and letting them fall asleep with the bottle in their mouth.
With Jayden the routine is solids, bath, book, bottle. Nate was on the same routine but now that he's two, his routine is dinner w/cup of milk, bath, and book. He knows that before we go upstairs for his bath, he has to finish his milk.
Now I read both the story, send Nate to his bed and then feed Jayden before putting him in the crib.
