My mom never let me use tampons because she thinks that it's not natural to keep everything inside of you when it's supposed to be coming out. However, I was on the swim team so I needed to so I went behind her back and bought them and used them.
One of my daughters does competitive gymnastics so I would imagine if she's still doing it when she gets her period she will need to use tampons. I think she is a late bloomer like I was though so she probably won't get her period until she's around 14 or 15.

I believe my SD started using them later in high school. I would say around 15 but she started with pads.
On another note, my friend just had me LMAO telling me about teaching her 13 year old how to use a tampon. Her DD plays soccer constantly and the pad was bothering her so she introduced her to the tampon. She said her DD was squealing (her word), asking her to do it for her, histrionics all over the place. My friend gave her DD a mirror to help her "like the instructions say". I was hysterical. In the end, she is still using a pad. I guess it depends on maturity too.

Unpopular opinion here. I HATE tampons. They are so uncomfortable to me, always have been. Even as an adult I only use them for beach/swimming days. I dont think its sinful but I think a young girl who is just starting puberty might have a tough time with them. I see no harm in having the conversation about both with your DD when the time comes. Def not "sinful" lol
Agree I hate tampons too. I only use them if I absolutely have to. DD is 13 and only uses pads. She knows about tampons but she's not comfortable enough to use them yet.
Same here. I kinda hate them, they’re pretty uncomfortable. I actually started using them in my early 20’s cause I was too scared of them. I can see why young girls would be scared and uncomfortable to use them. I don’t have daughters but I actually see beneficial having an open conversation with daughters about this among other things. It’s better to hear it from a mom than friends.
