Question about First RE Visit
Hi Ladies. I finally made an appointment with a RE for this week which will be Day 3 of my cycle. Do you think the RE would do IUI this cycle? What can I expect for my first visit?
My OBGYN already did bloodwork to confirm ovulation and sent me for HSG and DH went for SA. All checked out okay which is good but makes me wonder why haven't we been able to conceive.

They will probably do a sono and maybe blood if it looks like your ready to start. Did you want to do some medicated cycles with just BDing before an IUI or go right into an IUI?

Thanks. After reading on this board it seems like CD3 is a good day to go to the RE.
What are medicated cycles? My OBGYN gave me a prescription for Clomid - but i didnt start it yet. I guess i will speak to the RE to see what they suggest. I honestly dont want to waste anymore time.

i think it depends what kind of testing your previous dr did... a dr like Dr braverman will want to run more tests...

I previously had blookdwork and HSG. I'm assumiing they'll do an internal. What other tests are there?

I think its mostly a trial and error thing at first, well it was for me anyway...the first cycle i went in, they did a sono, took blood, and they put me on clomid CD 3-7 then was told to do OPK's to find out when i O so I can do timed intercourse. Turns out I didn't O on my own, so then the following few cycles i took clomid with a hcg trigger (to make me O) and did timed intercourse. When that didn't work, I moved onto IUI's.

Thanks! . I will find out more when I go for my appt. My obgyn gave me a prescription for clomid but i read its better to be monitored while on it, so I'll see what the RE says.

This was pretty much the same case for me. We made a preliminary plan and worked things through trial and error.

if u have had some bloodwork done and u had hsg and him SA i think he is going to start u that cycle on clomid and maybe sent u for some thrombo tests in the meantime

it depends on the doctor and what he will do on your first visit.
my first visit is monday but i'll already be on cycle day 9 at that point but i couldn't get an appoitnment any earlier 
and next month, AF, which i hope will be  is due when we are away on vacation so even if i wanted to go to the RE then, I can't because we won't be in state. What horrible timing

I had a great RE appointment today! They did an internal sono and all checked out okay. Also, took lots of blood for genetic testing, etc. Looks like I will be doing IUI this cycle!
