Question about Friends
I have a question for everyone. What happens when you grow up and most of your friends don't? In my group of friends I am the only one married. The only one not living at home. The only one that bought a house. Some of them still want me to hang out like I am single. I just don't get it. They wine about housing prices on Long Island but they are the first to piss away money when they aren't making a lot of money. One particular friend always has drama in his life and is always switching jobs. No college degree and doesn't want to hear about going back to school to better himself. Hello if you're in one dead end job after another it might help. Sorry for the ramblings but I had someone annoy me today with their comments.

I have gone thru many different changes in my "friends" thru the various stages of my life. As the things in my life changed so did some of my friends. It's the ebb and flow of relationships

Re: Question about Friends
I agree with you; to be honest, with the exception of a few friends, I most enjoy spending my time with my husband. I also like to be alone a lot. I tend to grow apart from friends like this.

Re: Question about Friends
Thanks for the comments thus far. I have changed is what they say. Sorry I can't go out to the bar everyday on the weekend and blow money. Sorry I don't have woman drama in my life. I am sorry I am bettering myself and never have to complain about anything to them.

OK, I know that I am a girl, but most of my friends are men, and I must tell you that it is really tough on them that I am now a wife & a mom. I have lost touch with a lot of friends for this reason, and slowly but surely a lot of them come back when they "catch up" to where I am.
And this is not to say that I stopped going out or partying with them once I got married, because it was quite the opposite. They just felt weird about it I guess.....

By "changed", they mean you've matured and become an adult, and they still want to play with the kid they knew years ago. It's unfortunate, but that's the way things go sometimes. Friends often come and go. It's hard to stay with friends that are distant, either geographically, maturity, etc.

It's rough because the main culprit was in my wedding party and I thought we would always be close. But I hear stories come back and the people said he told them not to tell me. It's funny though because I will get the last laugh. He's gonna be 30, still living at home and not saving crap. Winnar.

Re: Question about Friends
Most of my friends have changed through the years, and I expect the to continue to change.
I have a small handful of people who I have been friends with my whole life and no matter what I don't think that will change. Regardless of what stage in my life I am in.
However, the others just don't seem to get that I haven't changed for the worse, I've changed for the better. I am in a much better/more mature place in my life now then I have ever been. And if they aren't willing to join me on this level then s c r e w them. I am not willing to waste time on people who do nothing for themselves.

You have changed. You've grown up. You've matured. They are still stuck where they have been since they were teenagers. It stands to reason that you will outgrow some people. It happens to all of us. We move on in life and leave people behind. That's just the way it goes. We meet others that we can relate to and have things in common with. The problem is not with you; it is with your friends. I am sure there is a certain amount of jealousy, as well. They see what you have and would like to have it, but, don't know how to get it. Even if they do know how, they are not willing to work at it. They are content where they are. It's easier.
Live your life and don't let them get to you. Eventually, they will, either, catch up or you will leave them behind. That's just how life works.

Everyone has had great advice so far. Thanks. I am slowly distancing myself from them and we will see if anything changes or if they even notice. I would doubt it because first they have to remove their head from their anus.
