Question about in-ground sprinklers

We bought a house with in-ground sprinklers but according to the seller the company that installed is out of business and she doesn't know where the valve is to turn them or anything about them b/c it wasn't her house (it was her mom's who passed away Chat Icon )

Can we call up any sprinkler guy and have them come take a look?

Re: Question about in-ground sprinklers

Honestly, I think that is a waste of money. The only thing that needs to be done is to turn the water on and set the clock. Search around, I'm sure you will find it.

Yes, you can call any sprinkler guy.

We moved into a house this spring and called a reccommendation from a friend to turn on the system. We didn't use who the previous owners had used.

Are they the old school metal sprinklers that aren't automated? To turn those on there should be X shaped valves near an outdoor spigot that you can have to turn on and off each zone every time you use them. There was this long handled tool my parents had for it.

Re: Question about in-ground sprinklers

Make sure the system is checked before they vacate and you close. Our inground sprinkler system was checked after we closed but before they vacated the property and it was found not to have a backflow valve. The water district would not switch the water to our name until the previous ownder took care of it. We got two estimates and it is coming out of held escrow money.
