Question About Insurance Covering RE
I called my insurance to see what they will cover. They said they cover me seeing an RE and diagnostic things, but nothing else. She said IVF and something else were definitely not covered.
So does that mean IUIs are also not covered? It seems like all that is covered is me walking in and having blood work and sonos done. If it comes to me having to have these other things done, I won't be able to.

Re: Question About Insurance Covering RE
I had pretty much theworst insurance you could have and after asking MULTPILE reps at the insurance company, documenting a name/date and time we spoke- I ened up finding out I was indeed covered for IUI's - This was after many reps said I was covered for diagnostics only...Check, check and double check with them- also your RE's office (usually the personal who handles claims) will call and confirm your benefits...IVF is another story, as are injectable meds with a lot of insurance companies.. Good Luck

Re: Question About Insurance Covering RE
ITA w/ Bops! Also, before I started IVF I contacted www.fertilitylifelines.com It's free to join and they'll actually have a benefits specialist call you- they take your info from you and will call your insurance co for you and get answers for you. I spoke w/ them at different times for different things and felt comfortable enough to have them check my ins. info for me- and they did.... they were really helpful. HTH!

Re: Question About Insurance Covering RE
Initially, my insurance company told me the same thing, that only diagnostic testing was covered. After calling and calling and getting conflicting information from each person I spoke to, it turned out that my IUI's and medications were covered. Also, although I'm not covered for IVF, all of the blood-work and monitoring appointments are covered, which does add up.
Have your doctors office call and they should be able to get the correct information. That was the only way I was able to get correct information. Good Luck!

Re: Question About Insurance Covering RE
Thanks everyone! All the info was extremely helpful. I'm going to call my insurance company again (they actually have a special phone number that only deals with fertility coverage questions) and have them read me everything in detail.
Would they be able to send me an explaination of benefits layed out?

Re: Question About Insurance Covering RE
Your insurance company should definitely be able to send you a detailed listing of what is and isn't covered.
I called and they send mine and it arrived within like 3 days. It's really helpful!
