Question about naming multiples
SO we are having . DH wants to name one after his dad (coincidentally HIS name), then I thought OK, I'll name one after my dad. So we started looking at other names for the 3rd baby and we came up with a first name that we really like. But now I am starting to feel like he will be left out because he doesn't have a family name. Obviously, we don't have any grandparents left, do I thought I would choose a family name for the 3rd's middle name.
Do you think it matters? Or am I just over thinking it?

Re: Question about naming multiples
I'm not naming either of mine after anyone. Growing up, my brother was named after my father and I remember feeling very slighted that his name was "special and like daddys and grandpas" and mine wasn't. Just a thought

I would LOVE to give them each their own names, but I had to agree to name our first boy ofter DH's dad (he passed when DH was 8) before we got married. So individuality is not an option unfortunately.

Re: Question about naming multiples
I never thought about it until Champ just said something.
Can you do a twist on one of your mother's names for one of the boys? Even a first initial?

I think this is a good idea. I know twin boys and one is named after his father. It became an issue when they were older. I would try to keep it fair and give them all family names or none at all. Congrats on

Re: Question about naming multiples
I would give the third a special middle name. Is your name ryan? That would be perfect!

Re: Question about naming multiples
See I would look at it as you had to use the grandparents names so you decided to CHOOSE a third name, not be STUCK with one. Does that make sense?

Re: Question about naming multiples
We have a similar dilemma since DH is the 3rd generation with the same first name. Since we're having twins, he fears that the one who doesn't have the *family name* will feel slighted.
We're really not sure what we're going to do yet.

Re: Question about naming multiples
I would give them all family names. How about your grandparents, your name, Your brother/brother in law or use father/FIL middle name and change one of the other babies, middle name to something else. Congrats again .

Re: Question about naming multiples
i would try to pick family names for all 3 of them. OR... use the family names as middle names that way they can all have individual first names but still keep everything in the family with their middle names.

My name is Ryan, so that IS the male version. If we did this 1 baby would be named after daddy and one mommy!
Thanks for aLL of the advice. I asked my mom and sis for ideas on taking family names of his mom to make a male name and my mom realized that the 3rd name we picked is my great uncle's name! So I guess it all worked out! Thanks again for the advice.
