Question about Ovidrel.......can you girls help?
Hi Girls,
I haven't posted in a while on this board but I am hoping you can help me out. I am suppose to go in tomorrow for an IUI at 10am. This morning at 7am I took the Ovidrel shot to make sure I ovulate. I've taken 3 OPK tests today (11:30am, 2:30am, and 6pm) and it's not showing any surge yet, not even the hint of a line. Is that normal?
I am only asking because when I did the hcG shot 2 years to get pregnant with my DD I had the shot at 9am and by 3pm I had a VERY dark + on the OPK. Should I be concerned I am not getting a + on the OPK yet? I just need some reassurance, I think I am freaking myself out that the shot didn't work. Thank you SO much for any input. I appreciate it!

Re: Question about Ovidrel.......can you girls help?
I had taken ovidrel two times recently and always the night before the IUI it is supposed to make you ovulate within the 48 hour window... I wouldn't worry!

Re: Question about Ovidrel.......can you girls help?
I know Ovidrel usually takes anywhere up to 24 hours to ovulate......or less.
Do you feel when you ovulate? Last time I used Ovidrel I did it about 7pm at night, and I felt myself ovulate about 11 hours later.....like 6am.
I never take OPK's anymore, b/c me feeling it is the better sign for me. Sometimes, these eggs can get pretty painful. LOL

I thought it made you ovulate within 36 hours. I took it both times I had IUIs and never did OPK, but I conceived both times. It is highly unlikely that it wouldn't work.
ETA: I'm not sure you can even use an OPK with an ovidrel injection. An OPK tests for an LH surge, while ovidrel is HcG.

You're probably right. It's just when I had the trigger 2 years ago with my DD I was getting + OPK's starting 6 hrs. after I had the shot. I just figured it would be the same this time around. I'm sure it's fine but you know how easy it is to freak yourself out.

I totally understand. Good luck with your IUI tomorrow!

Thank you! And thank you everyone for the responses! I did another OPK this morning when I woke up and I had a very dark + so maybe it just took a little longer with the Ovidrel. Anyway, thanks again and good to everyone!!

Glad to hear it worked out... It does take up to 36 hours (that's what my RE told me, anyway) to work. So, I guess this time was just different for you. Good luck!!!

Thank you everyone! It would seem the Ovidrel worked as I did finally get the surge on the OPK's. I had my IUI Saturday morning so now I am just being tortured in the 2WW. I will keep you posted. Good luck to everyone else. Hope everyone has a "positive" 2010!!
