They sell a battery operated stirer. Im sure that would work in the bag.

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

I never really thought about the cost to be honest.

It's about $7.74 (from memory) at Target for a box of 100 liners. Sometimes they are on sale.

I use a separate bottle to make the formula and transfer to the Playtex.

I know some moms mix it directly is the liner.

I have it down to a science...they make 10oz liners now so you can just shake it up right in the bag..I dont use them though I just use the 8oz...

I use Parents Choice Brand Drop Ins for $5.87 for 100...

Ive used other bottles in the past and prefer Playtex Nursers..

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

It does cost more for drop-in liners then just using a standard bottle. Walmart sells great ones 100 4oz. liners for about 4-5 bucks.
You can still shake the formula powder with water (if your not home) in the liner, just screw the top on tight and squeeze the nipple as you shake... I have been using liners for almost 6 months now and DD is a very happy (gas free) baby.

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

I guess in the end it is more expensive because you do have to buy the liners but to me its so much easier. Cleaning is so easy, no BPA issues, etc.

And the cost is not so much that I even feel it. 200 liners (8oz)at BJs are $10 so if DS drinks 5 bottles a day for 1 year the cost is under $100 for the year. If you buy them at BRU they are $8 for 100 (10oz) so for 1 year its under $150.

To me the bigger issue is just making sure I never run out

I use RTF, but I have used powdered here and there, you can make it in a pitcher as many women do, they have the stirrers.

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

I love the drop ins, and just mix the water and powder right in the bottle, either hold the nipple, or cap it and shimmy shimmy shake!

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

When that is the only bottle DD will take after trying 4 others, cost of the liners is irrelevant. Chat Icon

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

Cheap route for me, I bought the Eckerd brand when they went out of biz and got 100 for 1.00 or less.

I still have plenty of boxes!!

If it does end up being more expensive what is the benefit of them? Why do you use them?

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

I guess it's more expensive but I also spend less time cleaning up the actual bottle. So less running water, etc..

I looked at my receipt from Target today and it's $7 for the box of 100. Apparently from the other posts you can buy the store brand for cheaper.

I started with Dr. Brown's because DS was so gassy. Then the BPA articles resurfaced and I did not feel comfortable. I tried the Playtex Drop-ins. While it is BPA free (the liners), I found that that DS' gas issue where much better. It worked better than Dr Browns for us. So we sticked to it regardless of the cost.

As PP said, the benefit is time! You don't have to worry about washing and sterilizing bottles- just simply throw the liner away. The extra time I now have is better spent sleeping instead of washing bottles. Personally, I bought the drop-ins to avoid the BPA issue. Also, when we take DS out for an extended period of time we don't have to worry about bottles- we just put a couple bottle liners in his diaper bag. It's more convenient.

Re: Question about Playtex Drop In's...

I originally got them because of the BPA issue too. When DS was born, my only choices were these, Born Free or glass.

We used the Born Free almost all the time up until about 5 months. Now I use the drop ins more because it is so much easier to clean them, and DS isn't as messy or gassy when he eats from them.

I used them because they are sterile, so easy to just pop in a new liner and wash the holder every other day, etc. They are especially great for travel, you don't need to bring 3 bottles, etc., you can just bring one holder and a few nipples. I used them with both of my kids and loved them. Also, since you squeeze the air out of the liner, it cuts down on the air the baby gets, thus making there less gas.
