Re: Question about potty training boys...
I taught a little boy to go standing up - his mom was doing it with him sitting, but even if he pushed it down, he would get messy, so he never wanted to go... when I told him that if he stands, he will never get wet, he did it that same day!

DH wants to get Nate this one, so he learns how to use it standing up.

Re: Question about potty training boys...
My son is 2 years, 8 months old and he is nearly potty trained. he still pees his underwear several times a day because he would rather play or watch TV than have to go use the potty. But he's almost there.... No poopy diaper in almost 3 weeks, the garbage men are thanking us!!
But to pee, I've been having him sit on his potty seat, which is a little seat that sits right on our toilet. It has a little splash guard for him and he doesn't really have to do much, because it tucks itself into that.
We have a low profile toilet and there is not way he can reach at this point if he stood up, so this is how he's been going as of now.

Dont sweat it. Seriously, they do it when they are ready and it all evens out by kindergarten, KWIM? My nephew is 4 yrs old and is peepee trained but not with pooping. He has his own feelings over this that he can't even convey but IMO you have to respect their issues, even if you dont get it. He'll surprise you one day and do it, guaranteed.

I wouldn't worry. My daughter was totally trained at 3 years, day and night (night first). My son was 3 in October and still wears a pullup to bed, wets it most nights and still has accidents every once in awhile. While I would LOVE him to be totally potty-trained, I know I have to relax and in due time he will be ready.
