I wouldn't want anything fake- I do have an issue with that- I have an issue with all things fake
but another gem stone is very cool
I agree. There are plenty of real gemstones.
I also think some women have too much expectations in term of size and cost of a ring. I never understand that the ring "MUST" cost and minimum $.

Re: question about rings
I think you should definitely share with him that she'd prefer a gemstone to a cz. It'll be up to him what he decides to do from there, but at least her wishes are known.
That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong with a cz as long as he's upfront about it.
I have a friend who bought a house with her boyfriend because that was more important to both of them at the time. Not long afterwards, they got engaged. Because they had just spent so much on the house, they decided on a cz for the ring.
I think life is about priorities ... and some times other things are bigger priorities than diamonds.
But for their 1 year anniversary, when they could afford it, he bought her a diamond

Re: question about rings
I think it's fine - but I do think both people should agree on that.
I gave DH a spending limit on my e-ring, I told him if he wanted to spend more than 2K to put it towards my student loans. I would have been pretty upset if didn't listen to me and spent more than that on my ring, to me it would have been a waste(to ME not to everyone). More importantly it would have said that he doesn't really know me.
I would prefer a gemstone to a CZ. I found a site (after we got engaged ) that has gorgeous gemstone e-rings - Topazery
They have some really beautiful pieces

Re: question about rings
I think they should make each other happy, whether that means no rings at all, "fake" rings, gemstone rings, no-stone rings, tattoo rings, candy rings.
My ring perfectly sybmolizes our relationship together, my personality, and his desire on what should grace my finger for the rest of our lives together.
I've never understood why some women care about what anyone else thinks of their rings. I don't expect anyone to care about my rings, because they're mine. I know why it looks the way it does, and why we chose it. That's good enough for me.
I think if it makes you and your spouse happy, considering anything else is just missing the point altogether.

Re: question about rings
I wouldn't mind another gem stone, but I'd be kinda upset about a QZ. The option I'd be the happiest with is a man made diamond, they are actual diamonds, but are really inexpensive in comparison.

Re: question about rings
I think gemstone rings are cool, and if she's ok with a CZ then I guess it's ok...

Even if Kevin had proposed to me with one of these, I still would've said Yes.

Re: question about rings
Having been married for a number of years, I can say it's not about the ring/stone or wedding, it's the marriage.
As long as she likes it & he can afford it, go for it.
Personally I wouldn't have a CZ as an engagement ring. I'd opt for a different ring or a gemstone or kick in for the diamond I want.
Ok who am I kidding....everyone loves a shiny new bauble....as my 4 year old told me "I only care about Diamonds. BIG DIAMONDS...oh & you. Big diamonds, you....and Daddy. You, Daddy, big diamonds...and Joseph."

Re: question about rings
i think everyone will have a different answer. For me- I wanted a diamond. I waited a long time, and if DH knew he was goign to marry me, he should have been putting away. If there were serious financial burdens, i would accept a CZ in the meantime, but it would be a placeholder until the real deal came a long.

Re: question about rings
whatever she wants he should look into a way of getting it for her...ebay is a wonderful tool...my e-ring came from there...we got a real diamond at a fraction of the cost it would have been at a jewellery store...got it appraised at triple what we paid for it!

Re: question about rings
To each his own. If she doesn't mind, then let them do what they want.
Personally, I would rather have a gemstone than a CZ. I think a CZ is meant to look like a diamond- so to me, its a little fake. I would rather have a gorgeous gemstone that was picked with me in mind .

she is okay with being a cubic zirconia but she would rather get a gemstone ring.
If it were one or the other, I'd rather have a gemstone than a cubic zirconia too. A cubic zirconia is an imitation diamond to me - not quite the real thing - whereas a gemstone can be beautiful by itself without being compared to something more valuable. JMO! \

There are soe gorgeous gemstone rings out there!
