Question About Sneakers..

I've been walking the track almost daily. About 1-2 miles a day.
At night, my back is killing me. It's sore.
Do you think it's my sneaker?
I try to do a power walk (or at least try to walk fast, so, I know I'm doing something).
Should I look into running sneakers instead of walking sneakers?

TIA for any advice.Chat Icon

Re: Question About Sneakers..

If you just started, you may not be used to using muscles that you didn't use before. Even though you are walking, which you do normally, upping the speed can affect the muscles in your back.

Thank You. This does make sense too. I walk everyday, but, do speed it up a bit.
I think I still may look into a new pair, but, Thank You for replying. It does make sense.Chat Icon

try sucking in your stomach muscles when you walk and focus on your posture. the stronger your abs are the stronger your back will be.

I would too. They will definitely offer you more support.

I would try new sneakers too. I bought a pair of mens, sooo much more comfortable then womans, more toe room. Wear them more then my womens.

Re: Question About Sneakers..

You can walk in running shoes but you can't run in walking shoes.

The support of your feet makes a huge difference in the support for your back.

YOu should look into getting shoe inserts--they make the world of the difference. You need good cushion in your heel.

more inportantly make sure you get the support from the sneaker first.

TY everyone. I think I'm going to get a running sneaker, even though I walk.
I realized today, I walk while pushing DS in his stroller (sometimes I pass him off to my sister or my dad who also come to the track), but, even walking around the neighborhood, I'm kind of hunched over at times.
