Question about solids and timing for experienced Moms (and those not so experienced too)?
My 5 month old DD starting eating solids last week. We started with the rice cereal for breakfast and dinner (1tablespoon now). We also just started sweet potatoes for lunch - about 1/2 the container. I always give her the bottle 6oz after the solid.
Here are the questions:
1. Should I give the bottle with the solid or space them out? 2. How much veggie should she be having a day? 3. Should I feed veggies 2x a day? The doctor said only for lunch to start? 4. How do you know when to decrease the formula?
Any answers to my questions would be so helpful.

Re: Question about solids and timing for experienced Moms (and those not so experienced too)?
My ds is now 7.5 mos however since his 4mo apt he was started on rice 1-2tbs in am w/ a fruit and lunch 1-2tbs w/ a veggie (stage 1) he was also drinking 4 8oz bottles a day. By his 6mo check up it went up to feeding him cereal 3x per day with a fruit for breakfast, veggie for lunch and dinner. He also still drinks 4 8oz bottles. My ped said he should be taking 32oz of formula a day no more if he is still hungry then up the amount of cereal (I haven't had to do that though) Oh and also he has always ate a whole jar of fruit or veggies I never gave him half. Hope this helped a little

Re: Question about solids and timing for experienced Moms (and those not so experienced too)?
1. Should I give the bottle with the solid or space them out?
I USUALLY GIVE THE BOTTLE RIGHT AFTER THE SOLID.
2. How much veggie should she be having a day?
WE STARTED WITH 1/2 JAR ONCE A DAY AROUND DINNER TIME AND THEN 1 JAR. WHEN HE GOT THE HANG OF IT I GAVE THEM ONE JAR AT LUNCH AND DINNER
3. Should I feed veggies 2x a day? The doctor said only for lunch to start?
JUST SEE HOW DC DOES AND THEN INCREASE
4. How do you know when to decrease the formula?
WHEN YOU SEE MILK BEING LEFT OVER THEN YOU CAN DECREASE. DC WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THEY ARE FULL.
