Question about starting solids

I am sorry if this is a silly question, but this whole solid food thing is confusing me.

So I gave my DS all the cereals, each for 4 days. Now I ma ready to move on to vegetables and fruits. So tonight I am giving him avocado, so can I still give him rice cereal or should I just do avocado for 4 days. I am assuming it is okay for him to have the avocado with cereal.

Another question, as I am introducing the fruits and veggies I should just do one a week, even if I tried something previously. So for instance say he tries all the veggies and then I start fruit. Do I just give him the fruit and cereal or can I also give him veggies that I know he is not allergic to. Am I making any sense?

TIA

I find it confusing too, but what my peds told me was, you can give the fruit with cereal, as long as you have already trie dthe cereal and no reaction to.. only one new thing at a time.

Re: Question about starting solids

okay.

Once he has tried all the fruits and veggies and you see that he has no reaction to anything, you can them incorporate his faves into a menu for him. so you can give him cereal for breakfast and a fruit or a veggie for lunch and a fruit/veggie for dinner.

Thanks. So then is it okay to still give him his cereal with each new veggie or fruit?

Yes, so long as you see that he has had no reaction to that fruit/veggie. Chat Icon

I definitely need to get more of a handle on this solid food thing. So wait I am confused. So tonight when I give him avocado for the first time I cannot also give cereal? I should just give avocado for t4 days without cereal. I am so sorry to bother you with all these questions.

Well, you wouldn't need to give him the cereal tonight because he's having avocado, but if you wanted to give him both, you def could because he's already have cereal and he's been okay with it. so for the next couple of days, he'll only have avocado and cereal and then after a few days, then you can give him something else.Chat Icon
