question about stork marks...
my 5w DD has a storks mark on her head, right in her hair line. i just noticed today that its a little raised, is this normal? im worried about it because i had an uncle who had a red birthmark on his head (in a different spot) and it caused a bleed in his brain and he had a lot of problems related to it. so now im wondering if its a strawberry mark that will go away or a birthmark like he had that will be there for life? thanks

Re: question about stork marks...
My dd has a stork bite. It was never raised that I can remember. It is a v shaped mark in the back of her neck. It will probably never fully go away, because even when it fades it still shows up when they are upset. At one year, my dd's stork bite is fully visible.

Re: question about stork marks...
DS has a stork bite on the base of his neck at his hairline, but it's not raised.....I haven't seen it come out in a while though, it usually gets noticeable when he's upset.......
Maybe try a pediatric dermatologist?

Re: question about stork marks...
DD has one on her forehead and then a large one at her neckline at the base of her neck. If she gets really hot, like in her carseat, I notice it gets VERY red but not really raised. I would show it to your pediatrician, they would know best and can direct you from there.

Re: question about stork marks...
Christopher has a stork bite on the back of his neck, it is not raised, but it is still very visible at 15 months old.
I loved it, and then my aunt told me that my grandpa had one in the same spot and it made it even more special

Rylan has a few of these. One at the back of the next...by his hairline...one on the middle of the back of his head and on his eyelids(the Dr. called these angel kisses. None of them are raised though.

Re: question about stork marks...
Are you talking about a hermangioma? DD has one right at the top of her head, it came out about 2 weeks after she was born. Ped recommended a pediatric dermatologist. We saw Dr Hayman...he has offices in New Hyde Park and Commack. Love him! They were worried because of where it is located that it could cause problems....turns out she is fine, we saw the dermatologist about 3 visits. At almost 1 1/2, the mark is almost completely gone.
Feel free to FM if you have any questions

Re: question about stork marks...
DD has a stork bite at the bottom of her head towards the neck...it is not raised though. She also has a very small one between her eyebrows...but it's super light, and again, its not raised at all.
