Re: Question about supermarket express checkout lanes

Definitely 1 item.

I would have been so put off if the cashier mentioned anything to me.

Re: Question about supermarket express checkout lanes

1 bag of 6 limes = 1 item

BUT

1 bag of 3 different types of apples doesn't equal 1 item. It would equal 3 items and need to be weighed seperately.

And all fruit/veggies aren't entered in by weight, some are quantity.

15 bottles of soda = 15 items. Depending on the store you can't do it by quantity. Each item must be scanned.

Re: Question about supermarket express checkout lanes

Sorry! I should have been more clear this morning, I wrote that too quickly before work! I should have explained that some items go by weight, some items go by quantity. As someone else posted, if you put 6 apples in a bag, that would be per pound. If you put 6 limes in a bag, that is quantity. Totally depends on the item.
