Re: question about switching formula
It does take some time for them to get used to the new formula. How much was he taking of the Enfamil lipil and how much of the Gentlease are you giving him?
I also asked Kristina's doc about switching her formula, but that was b/c she has issues with reflux.

Re: question about switching formula
Good question!! My DS has been on Similac with Iron but I have 2 cans of Enfamil Lipil with Iron that they sent me in the mail after I gave birth I would like to use. Can I just switch to the Enfamil once the Similac runs out or do I need the Ok from his pediatrician?

Maria... I would ask - just to be on the safe side.

Re: question about switching formula
When we switched formula we asked the DR first. DD went from Similac Advanced to Similac Sensitive. She had no problems with the switch.

I agree. I mean, I would switch back and forth when DC is taking less bottles (we'd go from Gentlease to Sim Sensitive) when DS was 6 months plus. I wouldn't do it if DC was little.
Yes, they are the "Coke and Pepsi" of formula, but they don't need the change.
To the OP, it took us a week to 10 days before we noticed a difference with the Gentlease, do not keep switching!

Re: question about switching formula
We did the same switch..and got the same result..DS seemed to be more hungry. Im assuming it's b/c it's lighter and hence more gentle. What we did was we weaned him from formula to the next rather than just switching him cold turkey. For an 8oz bottle we used 2oz Gentlease with 6oz of Enfamil Lipil and took it from there...it worked..actually DS is still on the mixture b/c at half way through we had the desired effect and saw no reason to change it...(as my pediatrician said IF ITS NOT BROKEN DONT FIX IT..she's fine with us doing this)

Re: question about switching formula
He takes a 6oz bottle of the enfamil lipi and then his next feeding I would give him the gentlease one which would also be 6oz but does not fill him up. The other reason why I would want to switch is because I know someone who could get me cases of simalac for free SO that the other reason why. SO I am not sure what I should do switch him to simalac or not.

Your ped told you to switch to Gentlease? But you want to switch to Similac b/c you can get it for free?
Listen, my DS started on Similac and he was so gassy and so miserable until we switched to Gentlease, and I wouldn't switch to Similac even if I could get it for free.

Re: question about switching formula
I'm pretty sure that all standard formula has the same calorie content so it wouldn't make sense that one was more filling than the other. Even powder vs. RTF.

Wouldn't that be defeating the entire purpose of being on Gentlease if you mix it with regular formula though?

Re: question about switching formula
Our DD was very gassy from day 1. When we went to the 1st two dr's appts they said that her system was just immature to keep giving her the same. But she was just miserable so we ended up switching ourselves from Similac Advance to Similac Sensitive and she has been great ever since. We didn't mix, we just went from one to the other.

I don't even know how you would mix the RTF and the powder together? How would your measurements be right?
