Question about the Graco Newborn Soothing center

Did anyone else register for it? It sounds cool.. but my only concern is, what is the length and weight restrictions on it? Does it last as long as a papasan swing? Or a different swing? Im so confused with this registry thing!!!!

Thanks!

I plan to register for it. The weight restriction is 25 pounds - the same as the FP Papasan Cradle Swing. I do believe that there are swings that will accommodate heavier children.

Re: Question about the Graco Newborn Soothing center

I originally was so excited and registered for this one and then read a review from a mother whose child leg almost got caught while it was rotating. Now i know this could be due to human error but i really didnt want to take the chance. I also read that the motor is really loud. So im going with the FP swing. HTH

Oh! I'm glad you posted that. Why take the risk?

my bf has this for her dd and it is super quiet. I cannot wait to borrow it when my baby is born (her dd will be out of it by then) Chat Icon

Re: Question about the Graco Newborn Soothing center

This swing has allowed DH and I to keep our sanity. I can't say enough positive things about it!!

I have NO idea how a child's leg would have almost gotten caught while it was swinging, as long as the child is properly strapped in, I really don't see how that's possible. Also because in the swing, your child is in a reclining position (kinda like one of those papasan chairs) so their feet are facing up toward the ceiling.

It got many negative reviews, but I really don't understand why. As far as the motor sound, it's comparable to other swings on the market--I think those that say the motor is loud haven't heard that it's typical for swings to make some noise when swinging. I actually find that my DD starts to close her eyes as soon as the motor starts, because the rhythmic sound of it actually serves as white noise, IMO.

Sorry for the long review, but I felt I needed to correct some of the things you've heard about the Soothing Center. My advice is, GET IT. Keep the receipt and the box, and if you don't absolutely love it, bring it back. But my guess is, you'll be hanging onto it. Chat Icon

Re: Question about the Graco Newborn Soothing center

I was originally going to get the graco soothing center but ended up swapping to the fisher price papasan. the graco had some bad reviews about the motor. too many people needed to return/exchange faulty parts. i just didn't want to deal with it.

i really liked that the graco had an ipod attachment but then i realized we could just play music from our normal stereo/ipods.

Re: Question about the Graco Newborn Soothing center

It got bumped off my BRU registry and it's no longer on their website. Just a heads up!
