Question about transitioning to sippy cup
I am trying to transition my 11 month old DD to the sippy. She takes the sippy but not like the bottle. She usually only drinks three 4 oz. bottles of milk a day. She was taking the sippy with water so I figured I'd try with milk. She sucks down the milk in the bottle within 2 minutes but with the sippy she drinks a little and then abandons it. It could take up to 2 hours for her to almost finish the 4 oz. sippy. She never has finished it. Okay, so the question is....do I keep going with the sippy of milk or do you think this is a sign that she's not ready to transition? TIA.

Re: Question about transitioning to sippy cup
Maybe its the sippy cup she doesn't like, what are you using? Julia loved the Nuby sippy, and took to it right away at 11 months when I stopped BF her.

We are using Playtex. I don't think the actual sippy cup is the issue though b/c she would drink the whole thing filled with water. It's really a mystery to me though. We have other sippy cups with straws; maybe I'll try one of those tomorrow.
Thanks for your response.

Re: Question about transitioning to sippy cup
my dd will drink water out of the sippy cup, then spit it out and down her outfit soaking herself so I am in the same boat here

Re: Question about transitioning to sippy cup
I agree with Mel, I would try another sippy.
Steven will drink juice/water out of a reg. sippy but will only drink the milk out of a sippy with the straw
He's a strange duck

Re: Question about transitioning to sippy cup
We tried a few different cups too. We use the Nuby cups now. I bought the insulated cups because it does take him longer to finish it.

Re: Question about transitioning to sippy cup
I would definitely try the Nuby cups, but once my kids changed to sippy cups they stopped drinking it all down as quickly as they would a bottle. They always sipped, put it down, came back to it and sipped again.
