Question for BTDT Mom's: vacationing & suddenly it's light out when you put DC to sleep
We are going away on vacation soon and I am wondering if I should anticipate a difficulty getting DD to sleep when it is still light out? Was it an adjustment for your DC? What about when you got back home and things were back to "normal"? TIA

When it's light out at bedtime, it didn't make any difference for us
When we travel, we try to stick to our bedtime routine, so those cues along with their sleepiness tell them it's time for bed.

Re: Question for BTDT Mom's: vacationing & suddenly it's light out when you put DC to sleep
We are currently in a hotel in Fl, we arrived on Sunday, the day the clocks changed. We've stuck as close to DD's bed time routine as we can and start it at the first signal that she is sleepy. She's continued sleeping through the night with the same bedtime and her naps have stayed in the same schedule (keeping mommy away from he pool )
I close all of the drapes and make it as dark as I can.
Are you staying in a hotel? We brought crib sheets for a porta-crib and the bumpers from her crib at home. We think that the familiar smell and sight is helping her sleep all night. I'm very glad I brought the porta crib sheets, the hotel wrapped the mattress in a full size flat sheet. eek!!!!!
At home when the daylight lasts longer I plan to just make the room very dark like my mom did for me. I have room darkening shades in DD's room.

We'll be staying at my parent's house. They have a crib for her and she has her own room...that should help. I guess like you said, I'll try to stick to her schedule and make sure I don't miss the sleepy signs. Thanks.
