Question for CIO moms

Did going in actually soothe your baby? I tried it again last night at 3:30 am after she finished nursing and would not go back to sleep in her crib. Nothing consoled her, and she cried from 3:30 to 6:30, when I had to get her up and get ready. As soon as I picked her up and took her out of the room at 6:30, she was fine.

Here's how her night went:

Slept in crib no problem 8:45-midnight.
nursed from 12-12:30ish
Slept in crib no problems 12:30-3:00
tried to soothe her without nursing, didn't work and I wasn't convinced that she wasnt hungry, so I nursed her. She finished nursing and fell asleep on me by 3:17. Put her down in her crib, instantly woke up and starting screaming bloody murder, and never stopped. I'd go in and check on her, nothing at all calmed her the whole time.

Re: Question for CIO moms

Is there any way that your DH can go in to soothe instead of you? Your DD probably associates you w/ feeding and wants that when she sees you.

Re: Question for CIO moms

Did you try picking her up and rocking her or just holding her to calm her down and then putting her back down in the crib after she's calm?

He went in the first time at midnight, and she wasn't calming down, so i went in and fed her (i was pretty sure she was truly hungry at that time.) Then he went in some of the times between 3:30 and 6:30, and still nothing. we've never been able to calm her at night when she's crying with anything other than picking her up, feeding her, or bringing her into our bed.

Yes. I didn't pick her up last night, but have other times. Either it doesn't calm her down, or it does, but the second you put her back down, she immediately starts up again.

Re: Question for CIO moms

I started solids at 6 months (so later than most), but I was givng her more than 1 tablespoon per feeding. Perhaps your DD is hungry? Maybe try more than 1 Tbsp per feeding, especially for her dinner- maybe that will fill her up..

I am worried that she is hungry. I started her on cereal 2-3 weeks ago with the dr's ok. He said to only do rice cereal til her 6 mth appmt, which is tomorrow. I'm hoping to get clearance to feed her more and more often, which I'm sure he will give.
