Question For CPAs out there?
If I'm filed as married, 1, can my husband file as married 1 too, or does he need to file married 0?
(There are no children involved.)
TIA!

You can file as whatever you want, as long as you are deducting enough taxes from your paycheck. It would really depend on what your deductions are. I would consult your accountant.

You can take as many dependents as you want. It has to do with the payment of taxes...the more dependents...the less taxes are withheld from your check. If there aren't enough taxes withheld, you will owe taxes when you file your return for that year.

Re: Question For CPAs out there?
for my paychecks, i am still single 0 and so is my husband. when it comes time to file at the end of the year, we get $ back b/c too much in taxes was withheld from our paychecks. if your husband claims 1, less will be taken out each week than if he claimed 0 but you may have to pay come April. does that make sense?
