Question for Legal/Marketing gurus

if a company advertises a special on something (can be anything) and there are exclusions and / or restrictions, is it the law that they disclose those restrictions?

Re: Question for Legal/Marketing gurus

I don't believe it's the law, unless it is a sweepstakes where the legal rules need to be available to the public. Legalese is required for specific product information in advertising though-- it varies by product type. I think it depends really on the item, what the restrictions are and where they are promoting the item.

well you know how you see commercials for cars and the fine print is at the bottom? something along those lines.

if there is an offer, shouldn't a company have to disclose all of the terms?

Re: Question for Legal/Marketing gurus

If they are reputable, yes they should-- if at the very least to protect themselves from customers trying to take advantage of something. Without knowing the context--- and me only knowing certain areas of advertising, it would be hard for me to give a definitive answer.
