Question for mothers with Newborns that have reflux?

My DS has reflux and was just put on Zantac. He seems to be getting better, but is still having discomfort in the middle of the night. He has only been on medication for two days.
My question is does Zantac work right away, or does it take a few days?
I wish it would take away the spitting up.

Zantac didn't work for Alexa... it took the edge off but didn't really help. It actually made her really WIRED....

We ended up seeing a GI specialist who put her on prevacid and it worked on the first does.

She still spits up and refluxes but when she does she doesn't SCREAM in pain.

Medications like Zantac and prevacid won't stop them from spitting up. These medications help decrease acid productoin and neutralize them so when they do reflux it doesn't burn their esophagus and mouth.

SO she still spits up but it doesn't bother her... still a little messy but at least she isn't SCREAMING in pain!

I woudl ask about prevacid. My GI specialist said most of the time zantac doesn't really work..

we switched from zantac to Axid....we also used Mylanta and that helped alot
