Question for only those who have not had Covid
I just wanted to see how many people come and read this then laugh and not respond, respond angrily that this is serious business or derail the thread. Ok go!

Re: Question for only those who have not had Covid
Both my husband and I are vaccinated, however my two boys who are 14 are not vaccinated. I do get worried and I still take precautions when necessary. Because I know that it's still out there and there are the new strains. I am actually thinking about getting my boys vaccinated only because we want to go back to Mexico in February again.

Re: Question for only those who have not had Covid
Not vaxxed and not afraid to get it. I feel like I already had it at some point over the past 18 months anyway. If not, I know I am taking my chances.

I wonder about that too. Hubby very sick November/December 2019. In bed for 3 days. I lost taste somewhere after that for longer than I usually do. Oldest, probably not as they have been tested a million times (almost literally lol) for school and just to get it done. Youngest has lost taste and smell bit never tested and just had a minor cold so who knows.

Question for only those who have not had Covid
I just rescheduled the appointment I had today for the vaccine. I am worried what my body's reaction will be but at the same time I am also afraid of what will happen if I ever get COVID.

Re: Question for only those who have not had Covid
Statistically there are several other things that have way more of a chance of killing me than Covid. If I sat and worried about every single thing that could kill me, I wouldn't really be living. So, no, I'm not worried about this

In our area, in just 2 days a 9 year old boy got killed in a car accident, a woman stabbed and killed and 3 people shot and killed so to worry about IF we get a virus just sounds ridiculous.

I wish more people felt this way about the vaccine.
I'm vaccinated, so I'm not worried about getting covid. I'm worried about my kids getting it though, in part bc I don't want us all to be stuck home for two weeks.
I'm also worried that new variants will develop that aren't impacted by the vaccine and we'll all be back where we started. Nothing I can do about that though.

Re: Question for only those who have not had Covid
Hopefully the LIF police will stay off this thread since she already had it. I’m gonna answer even thou I had covid. I was never afraid to get covid. I almost wanted it from the start so I could get it overwith. When I did get it I got anxiety that it would be bad but then I was sick less than 12 hours. But I’m so glad I had it. Yes, I said it. I’m glad. Maybe I will develop severe hemorrhoids in three months as a residual side effect of covid. I don’t care. I no longer need to live in fear of getting a virus that was most likely never going to kill me anyway.

OMG you are great!!! How dare you to be on this thread though. We can’t like you anymore :p Hopefully those Debby Downers are drinking it up right now. Yes alcohol kills everything. Get your Vitamin D and vodka and maybe some veggies and you will be ok ;)

This!
But it's not just about you or me getting covid. Yes, the chances of it killing any of us on this board are statistically low. But if it comes back full force again (because of variants), not only will it kill hundreds of thousands more people, it will kill our economy and our healthcare system. The vaccine is about so much more than you or me
And like a PP mentioned, when covid first hit, I was almost hoping I would get it - assuming it would be mild and I'd then have antibodies. I wasn't really worried about it then. But as we've learned more about what covid can do long term, I became more concerned about getting it. Never fearful, but cautious and concerned. And after I got vaccinated, my level of concern decreased. But, with the Delta variant, and probably more like it to come, my level of concern has started to increase again. Not to the point that I have yet changed what I will or will not do, but more that the likelihood of mask mandates and shut downs seems like it could be a definite possibility once again

Unless we close our borders are closed the variants are coming anyway. Herd immunity in the US means nothing.

It's your prerogative to worry. I personally can't sit here worrying about this for the rest of my life. This will never go away. Ever. There will be variant after variant. Delta, Kappa, Epsilon. Like a college fraternity of variants
I can't sit here worrying about what if's.. What if, what if, what if? It's not mentally healthy for me personally.

I never said it was paralyzing me or changing the way I live my life - for now. And I'm not sitting around worrying about it. I'm living my life, enjoying life. But the possibility of going backwards to where we were a year ago seems real to me. I really hope I am wrong, but I would not be at all surprised if we wind up back there

Yep, every year will be new. Just like the flu, god forbid you compare it, every year is a different variant. You get your vaccine or you don't and hedge your bets. Its with us forever and ever and ever... I also do not see a shut down. Maybe masks (like a piece a cloth helps anyone) but not a shut down

Re: Question for only those who have not had Covid
Not an immunologist here, but if you have been vaccinated, wouldn't you then have antibodies so that even with variants the disease would no longer be "novel" and therefore not as as much of a threat? Can anyone with knowledge answer this?
