Question for runners
I am a new runner and training for my first half marathon. I am up to 7 miles so far. The problem is that around mile 4 my right foot only starts to hurt/feel weird. The ball of my foot and toes start to go kinda numb and it hurts every step. Any ideas why this would happen too one foot only and how to help it? TIA

Re: Question for runners
Congrats on training for your first half! I love half marathons--I've done 15 in the last 4 years!
If it's just one foot, I would say it's not a shoe related thing. There are so many different foot things that you could have some nerve issue with your foot. I have Morton's Neuroma in my right foot and though it goes numb after awhile, I'm okay with it because I know what it is and it doesn't affect me from running.
If it hurts or is bothering you, I'd suggest going to a foot dr to discuss it.

Re: Question for runners
I'm training for my first half, too!
Any pain that is unilateral I'd get checked out.

Question for runners
I'd go to a foot doctor. But since you mentioned that it starts at mile 4 or so and you've just increased your mileage it could be something. I'm thinking maybe your shoes. Your feet may start to swell up a bit. You could try going up half a size in your sneakers. I've had to do that in the past.

Re: Question for runners
Sounds like mortons neuroma to me too. I have it and on the recommendation of a podiatrist got ball of foot pads. I got them on Amazon and have had no problems since.
