Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married in November but right before Thanksgiving vacation so i didn't need quite as many days off. Three other teachers got engaged around when I did and only one of them had a summer wedding. All were planned somewhat near a vacation though!

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married April 8th. I took four days off of work and tacked them on to Spring Break. My principal didn't give me any problems about the days, and I already had tenure.

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
Well as I'm starting to see some reception halls I'm telling them July so I think July it is! I'm so afraid I will be in a panic if I try to do things and teach at the same time. I also am looking for a new job for September so by 09 I will still be new and I really don't want to ask for days for my wedding just yet. I'm happy I chose July..It's probably best for me. I appreciate everyones feedback!

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married in spetember, while working part time and student teaching and finishing graduate school. We did have to take a delay in the honeymoon until this april, because of our crazy schedules.
I think as long as you are an organized person, you can do it. If you are not an organized person, then you might need help juggling your work and all the appointments, parties, little details that need to be done.

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
DH and I both teach. We got married in October and took our honeymoon over the Christmas break. It was hard going back to work the Monday after the wedding, but I loved that we then had the honeymoon to look forward to.

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married July 9th. Those 2 weeks after school ended were a blessing!!
There are SOOO many little things to do at the very end. Also you want you wedding, honeymoon and NEW marriage to be the only thing on your mind, so in my opinion wait for summer, its worth it! I was in such a wonderful daze after our wedding I couldnt even imagine going back to work MONDAY.
My kids (kindergarteners) even came to the church for the ceremony!

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married in July too, but I was also planning from across the country, so it would've been nearly impossible for me to do it mid-school-year.

Re: Question for teachers about weddings
I got married the first Saturday of the President's Day vacation of last year. I ten extended my honeymoon to go through the week AFTER vacation. I had been at my school for 10 years at that point and never took more than 2 days in a row off. For something like a wedding, my school was more than willing to accommodate.
