Question for the ladies who knit
Have you ever brought your knitting needles on an airplane?
I just began knitting, and I want to bring my project with me on my flight tomorrow morning. Supposedly, you are allowed to bring your knitting needles in your carryon, but the security officer has the right to determine if they are a weapon and confiscate them.
Has anyone had a problem getting knitting needles through security?

From my husband who is TSA you are allowed to bring your knitting needles.
The check point supervisor does have the final discretion.
You or a 90 year old grandmother will not be a problem, however a 300 pound biker covered in tattoos going on the plane with knitting needles may raise some questions
If it is decided you are not allowed to bring them you will have the option to bring them back to the gate and it can go under the gate. They will not confiscate them.
As a general rule, they are allowed on the aircraft.
