Question for those of you who have sold clothes or baby gear to Once Upon a Child...

We have a DS and since we found out we are having Chat Icon this time around I was thinking of selling some of his clothes to Once Upon a Child instead of boxing them up to make some extra $. Just curious as to how around much you get, some of his things have never been worn or look like new. I was also thinking of listing on here or ebay, but at least with the store I can just bring it there and leave with cash! Chat Icon

I have read on here that you don't get much at all

And that their prices are kind of high, too

I think my mom went and said it wasn't much of a deal

I have not gone myself, though

you get garage sale prices. .50 and a dollar for most clothes. Gear don't expect much. Someone brought in a super high end stroller ($400plus) and was offered $45. $5 for exersaucers, etc.

I haven't sold to them yet but I have shopped for my Chat Icon there and get a lot of great deals. There is another store like Once Upon A Child called Marshmallow Kids on Main Street in Mineola. You can sell to them too.

I had a feeling this was the case, maybe I'll try other outlets before going there.

there is also a consignment sale coming up. Last year I didnt have time to enter and tag everything so I let them do it. It was hassle free and was given a decent check when all was said and done for doing nothing!

Could I be added to the buy/sell FB group? Once Upon a Child is so hit or miss and buying on ebay takes too much time, I'd love that option! And Domino, when and where is the consignment sale? I'd love to shop it, even though I don't have anything to sell.

There is also one called Chiken Kidz, also 2x a year. Next one is in April. You tag & inventory tour own items, bring then to the location and then get sent a check for what sells.

I've never consigned with them but I've shopped at both kids closet consignment shows and they are great. They have great selection and great prices.

I would sell on the Fb Groups.

There is Bayslist but you must be a Suffolk county resident to join.

There is Nassau/Suffolk Buy & Sell Group

Bellport/Brookhaven Yard Sale (you don't have to reside in those areas to list)

If you just put them in the search on fb they will come up.

I went to the Chicken Kidz sale in the fall. It was well organized, and stocked nicely. However, remember that your items aren't new, and you should price them accordingly. Some of the stuff was priced way too high for what it was.

I have not consigned, but will be in April. I shopped at the one in the fall. I took my time looking thu everything - agree with a PP, some things were overpriced. But if you look you can find some good deals.

I definitely think I may try this and sign up. I can see how pricing could get difficult...I know they mentioned they give you a guideline, but just curious, for the ladies who have shopped at one before, what do you feel is fair pricing? Can you give any examples? I have a Graco Snap n Go in great condition, it looks like its sells for around $80 new, I would like to ask $25-30, is that fair?

I have consigned with kids closet their past 2 sales (the fall ones in Suffolk and Nassau), and I was pleased. But you really need to have a lot sell in order to make money... and it is too tempting to buy away your profits lol They have lots of great cheap stuff there. the people who run it are nice and professional and helpful. If oyu want it out, def. do the half price. I aslo like how you can choose to have items donated... saves a step for things that don't sell. I haven't sold anything big, just clothes and some toys.

I did Kids Closet a few years ago. I was very happy with what I got. I sold clothes and some big toys. I have to do it again.

I ended up signing up for Chicken Kidz, I've started to load things into the computer that I plan to sell, I just hope I'm pricing them fairly, I did agree to have the prices be half off on the last day if they haven't sold by then so we'll see!

I am considering trying Cow Harbor Kids in Northport. I saved only the brands that I thought they would take, all in great condition. I've never tried to sell kids' clothes before so if anyone knows them, let me know.
