My cousin went in Monday morning to be induced...we are still waiting to hear from them about the brith of her son!
how long to they let you go before they give you a c-section normally?

Re: question for those that were induced
they let me go for 27 hours before offering the C-section. I could have turned it down if I had been determined to have DD naturally, and they would have started again the next day. At that point I was already at 42 weeks so I just wanted her out.

Re: question for those that were induced
I went for 22 hours, no c-section--it can take a pretty long time, especially if this is a frist child and she was not in labor at all going in.

Well....if they were doing cervidil, that goes in for 12 hours to start and then they can do it AGAIN, so that would be another 12 hours, which would take you to 24 hours before they even started the pitocin.
You can't call anyone to find out?

Re: question for those that were induced
It depends on the hospital. They let my friend go 3 DAYS before they finally gave her a c-section but that is really unusual. Usually 24 hours...

Re: question for those that were induced
They may have started later than planned also. Mine was supposed to begin at 6 pm, but they didn't actually start it until 10 or 11 because there were lots of women coming in in active labor--of course if you are there for an induction, you have to wait.

Re: question for those that were induced UPDATE
I had gone to the hospital on Aug 23 at 2pm for a growth sono. My fluids were low so I had to be admitted. They admitted me at 4pm. I was hooked up to IV's to bring my fluids up and was given cervidil at 5pm in the event my fluids did not go up they could continue with induction. At 5am on Aug 24 they came in to check on me and get me ready for an 8am sonogram. At 8am it showed my fluids did not go up and the induction would continue. They gave me the pitocin and told me to rest. Contractions started and they were intense. They were coming in 2 - 3 minutes apart. I was given an epi and oxygen because the contractions were stressing the baby. At 4:45pm my water broke. I still was not dialated. The doctor said she was giving me until 7pm to see if I dialated. At that time we would decide if I needed a c-section. At 7pm I still was not dialated baby was getting stressed and was moving in the opposite direction. The doctor told me I needed a c-section. So they got me prepped and at 9:30p was going in.
