my 1st was 7lb 2oz and i gained 50lbs my 2nd was 7lbs 9ozs and i gained 40lbs, both were born in my 39th week.
I was the exact same weight at delivery with both of them. (i had 10lbs still to lose when i got pg with #2)
But #2 so far is a much bigger baby how she is growing and gaining than #1 was.

Re: question for those whose 1st baby was big( say over 9lbs) and you have a second child...
I was told the second baby would be bigger if it was the same sex.
For instance: If you have a girl, then a boy, he might be bigger than her. But if you have a third child and it's a girl, then she would be bigger than the first girl, but smaller than the first boy. Hope this makes sense.
I would be scared to death if my second baby was bigger.

Re: question for those whose 1st baby was big( say over 9lbs) and you have a second child...
My first was 9 lbs, 3 oz. (Boy - 5 days late) #2 was 7 lbs, 14 oz. (Girl - 1 week early) #3 was 8 lbs, 5 oz. (Boy - 2 weeks early)
Obviously if #2 and #3 were born on time or even late, they would have been bigger. I think DS #2 definitely would have been bigger than Ds #1 if he cooked longer.
My girlfriend just had her second boy and he was 10 lbs even. #1 was 9lbs, (I forget the oz)
My SIL had 3 boys and they were each bigger than the next. I dont remember all their weights but I think #1 and #2 were over 8 1/2 lbs. #3 was 11lbs, 13 oz.!!
So I do think that babies tend to be bigger if they are the same gender and the pregnancy goes the same length of time. These are the 2 variables IMO
I don't believe the Mother's weight gain means anything. Most people gain the most weight with their first pregnancy. Even people who lose all the "baby weight" already have a new weight distribution to their body once they've had a child so it doesnt matter.
