Question on doing your political research....
Many of you say - don't listen to the media, do your research....
WHERE do you do your research? Especially factual, unbiased research?
Help me out - because I really wanted to do my research right from the start - but its not like i can go on each candidate's website and do my research that way....

Re: Question on doing your political research....
I try to stick to the major newspapers. The New York Times has an election guide that outlines each platform - but a lot of it is listening to what they have to say themselves and making my judgements based on that. I don't live on the US, so most of the news I get tends to have a very pro-Democrat slant to it, which makes me much more aware of media bias in both directions. I make it a point to read all of the speeches, which I think is helpful because you get all of the substance without any of the passion.
ETA: I have a journalism degree and spent 4 years discussing journalistic ethics and bias, so I think I'm good at spotting it. But I also think that not everyone in the media is as crooked as some people would have you believe. I think the trick is to use multiple media sources and not rely on one. If you're watching Fox News all the time, you're going to get a very biased view of things, but if you mix it up with The NY Times sometimes you're exposed to a different point of view (which is not to say the NYT is un-biased either)
