Re: question re cold sores/fever blisters?
If you have a prescription and your doctor OK's it, take that.
Otherwise, lather on some Abreva. It think Aveeno makes a product too.
Many other LIF'ers share your pain... do a search, you'll see you're not alone.
Unfortunately, pregnancy makes them come out

Yes...pregnancy brings them out! I got one which tipped me off to being pg and then suffered one or two so far. I was told Valtrex is ok to take. (rx in a pill form) but like poster stated...Abreva works well and maybe some Lysine pills.
ETA: I feel your pain!

Re: question re cold sores/fever blisters?
Ugh they are a pain - I got about 3 in a row and then they just stopped. My doctor told me there isn't much you can do in the 1st trimester -I usually take Valtrex and he said it was a no no my 1st trimester but okay if I really needed it after 12 weeks. They did give me a topical cream for it - but if you get pregnant and get them just call your doctor as every office seems to be different in their advice

Re: question re cold sores/fever blisters?
If you get them normally my dr. told me that I shouldnt be surprised if I notice more outbreaks. I think you can take Valtrex it if is a severe case but honestly I wouldnt take it. They dont look like good but they do go away. If you have never had them before then you will not get it because it is a virus that causes it and you need to catch the virus.

Re: question re cold sores/fever blisters?
i've gotten them off and on since i was a kid (after a cold or sunburn etc) and usually just pop a Valtrex but they've gotten less frequent. I didn't even get one on my wedding day. its so weird to get 3 and i swear I felt them popping up this a.m. - felt it enough to get out of bed and investigate!
i hope its a good sign and not some hormonal imbalance
