question re: Disney and age of DC
what age do you think is ideal for a child to go to Disney and really enjoy it?

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
ds was 18 months - he had a good time but he also loved jumping off the curbs and running around the lightpost.
too young imo!

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
We haven't been yet, but from what I've read/heard DC will enjoy at about 1-18 months.
Not that they will remember it tho That being said, we may go over the summer based on the locale of our Florida vacation.

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
DD was 18 months and had a blast! She ran around, laughed on the rides even trying to work the controllers on some and gave big hugs to each and every character she saw

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
DS was almost 4 and he absolutely loved it. He was tall enough to go on everything we would allow him on. He was very into the characters, into every activity they had overall we had a blast. He remembers it and still talks about it.

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
I don't think there is necessarily an "ideal" age - but more what you want them to get out of it. I took DD at 15 months. She LOVED it - she was all smiles, dancing and clapping all week. I know she won't remember it - but she had a great time and was SO happy. She went on all the rides without a height requirement and loved them. She was nervous with the characters (loved them from 3ft away) until about 3 days in and then she was hugging and kissing them and running to them.
You have to know your child though some kids are better than others with certain trips (i.e. how do they do in crowds?).
We are planning on going back next June when DD will be about 3 and DD#2 will be about 1.
We saw lots of parents with kids much younger and much older and they were all getting something different out of it.
One of DD's favorite things we did was MSSHP - the halloween party - she dressed up as tinkerbell. They had several characters dance parties and she got to dance with the characters etc.
However having said that - some of the shows were not her favorite things - she liked the 3D movies but not some of the live shows so the rides were definitely her favorite things.

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
we just took DS for the first time and he is 6. IMO its the perfect age. Too much younger and they'll have fun, but they wont remember and they would have had just as much fun in a box. Its an expensive trip so we wanted to make sure he could appreciate it fully.
My DS had an amazing time, was old enough to appreciate it all and also easy to manage on a chaotic schedule.

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
I took DD when she was 19 months, she loved it. I took DS when he was 2, he loved it. I think any age is a good age for Disney. There are things geared toward all ages.

ITA!!! But, I'm not someone who would ever go to Disney without children.
The first time I went I only had one child and she was 4. It was not a trip I planned but an opportunity that presented itself. My husband was involved in a conference and we had an all expense paid trip (stayed at the Poly) with private parties and the whole deal. My then 4 year old had a good time but there were plenty of things she couldn't do and frankly I was happy to go home (it was summer and I was pregnent).
I just went back this past December with my 6 and 11 year olds. It was my youngest daughter's first time and she had a blast. We stayed in the park and it was a fun trip. But, to be honest there were still a few things she couldn't/wouldn't do. We will probably go back again in another 2 years or so. But, it was a very expensive trip (over 7K) and all I could think about was for this money I could be in Europe. Oh well, in a few years we will take them there to.
My advice is unless you will also enjoy the trip, I would hold off until at least 5. Just my opinion though.

Re: question re: Disney and age of DC
I am the type of person who would take my kids every year no matter what age every year if I could but........we took ds twice, once at 2.5 and once at 4. He remembered lots of things from when he was 2 and he had the best time at 4. He went on the rides, interacted with the characters he had so much fun.
