Question re: Mortgage due date...
My DH was being a typical man (stubborn) and didn't mail the mortgage because I accidentally left the change ($0.78) off of my check.
Why he couldn't just VOID his check and write a new one to mail it out on time is BEYOND ME.
Instead, he didn't mail it and didn't tell me until 2 days later that I had to write a new check.
Now, it might be LATE. Question: if our payment is due on 7/1 (Sunday) and it arrives on 7/2 (Monday) will they assess a late fee / will it impact our credit?
I could kill him. MEN. Today was not the day to mess with me!

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
no you wont be charged and it wont go on your credit report.
You technically have a 15 day grace period to pay your mortgage. I set up automatic deducition and I was able to choose any day from the 1st to the 15th after it was due to pay it.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
Don't they usually give you a 15 day grace period. If its due on the 1st; isn't it after if its rec'd by the 15th, they charge a fee.
I think you may be OK. I know every mortgage company is different but you might want to check your records.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
I don't think there will be any reprecussions for one day. Can you drop off the check or do an online payment so you can put your mind at ease?

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
My mortgage has a grace period. (meaning it's due on the 1st but I have until the 15th to pay it without incurring any late fees or it being considered late; any payment received later than the 15th would be considered late)
I would call and ask, and it they do cool. if not, then advise them that the check is on its way or perhaps you can pay by phone.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
We have a 15 day grace period. You should be fine. Why don't you call them up and see if you can pay over the phone.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
We have the 15 day grace period, and we normally mail it right around the due date, never had a problem. We have countrywide.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
Ours says it's due on the 1st...but we have until the 21st to pay it. I never pay it when it's actually due. Too many other bills to pay at the beginning of the month!

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
we're the same -- due the 1st but have a 14 or 15 day grace period. I usually send mine out on the 30th or the 1st and my check usually clears around the 8th or so.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
I have a 15-day grace period. I set up my bank to automatically debit it on or around the 1st of the month though so I don't have to remember to mail the check each month.

Re: Question re: Mortgage due date...
I think it's with every mortgage that you have till the 15 to make the regular payment.
16th or after, there will be a late fee.
Nothing will be reported to the credit bureau until its over 30 days late.
