question re: paint for the nursery

We are having someone come in plaster and paint the walls in our nursery.

With that, next week, I will be buyng the paint.
I will be camping out @ my friends house when all that work is being done.

What brand paint do you recommend that is fume free or close to it?

Re: question re: paint for the nursery

we are having our apartment painted as we speak.. I am home, and the smells truly doesn't bother me.

We are using Behr paint from Home Depot, its very minimally stinky

Re: question re: paint for the nursery

We always use Benjamin Moore, Matte Finish...

Also, they have a new paint out called "Aura" that has harmless fumes... specifically designed for children's rooms and nurseries!

We used the Disney paint which is Behr paint and it wasnt that bad. I even helped paint the trim a little (with the windows wide open)

I am not sure, but when I asked the guy we hired to do the work here if it would be better that I stay out while the work is done, he told me yes.(the work also includes a lot of plaserting and sanding)

Thanks ladies for your responses, I will look into the options

I spoke to My Doc, about this because we have slowly been painting every room in the house, and I have been helping. He said as long as I wear a mask, there is good ventilation, and it's LATEX paint, then it was fine.

We just need to stay away from the oil based paint.Chat Icon

We used Disney paint from Behrs as well. It wasnt smelly really at all. We kept all the windows in the house open and I think that really helped alot!

Re: question re: paint for the nursery

Benny Moore is the better of the 2 paints (Behr)....it lasts much longer & may be a bit more expensive.

DH did our nursery & our LR/hall & within a few hours the smell is gone. Just leave your windows open & you'll be fine.
