Question re: rush hour traffic for those that travel into Nassau County.
Let's say you had to be some place by 9:00A and you lived about 30 minutes away from your destination.
Realistically, how long of a drive would it be? I am thinking probably 40 minutes maybe in traffic on the SS.
There hasn't been a need for me to travel to Nassau for awhile now.. thanks.

With traffic I say 1 hr or even more, especially if its rush hour.

I agree, it depends on where to where b/c there are certain areas on the SS that are worse than others & other exits that move fine even during rush hour.

My DH travels from E. Northport to Jericho. Has to be in by 9AM. Leaves here by 8:20AM. Takes NSP to LIE (he works right off LIE).

ITA. And I agree that Ocean Parkway is a good alternative.

From Lindenhurst to Lynbrook.. I am sure I could take Sunrise too but with all the lights... not so sure I want to do that.

Re: Question re: rush hour traffic for those that travel into Nassau County.
It would completely depend on where I was going. Certain roads and parkways are so much better than others.
ETA -- saw the destinations... I'd say give yourself about an hour.

Sunrise Hwy is faster than the southern, even with the lights.
I have to go from Lindy to the Meadowbrook every day - and I choose Sunrise over Southern.
I think you need an hour.

Re: Question re: rush hour traffic for those that travel into Nassau County.
when I lived in Bellmore and worked in Uniondale, the commute was about 4 miles and took about 35-40 minutes. I had to leave around 8:15 so I wasn't late for work....good luck!
